After a number of Politicians shifted camp from his side, Deputy President got a shot in the arm when former Kitui South MP joined his camp. Kiema Kilonzo who has been an Ambassador for some time has pledged his allegiance to William Ruto.
Many Pundits argue that is a washed-up politician who has lost touch with the ground because of the many years he has been out of the country. Kiema Kilonzo has been an Ambassador for close to 10 years.

The recent clean up by Uhuru has reduced Ruto’s influence in the government. The Deputy President has chosen not to fight back and has retreated. He has decided to target the youthful population and the less privileged.
Recently another leader from Ukambani, the former Machakos Senator, Johnstone Muthama, quits Wiper and declared his support for Ruto’s 2022 presidency. Muthama has vowed to campaign for him to ensure that he ascends to power come 2022.
Kiema Kilonzo, the former Kitui East member of parliament and current Kenyan ambassador to Uganda, is the latest politician to support his presidential bid is Kiema Kilonzo. Kilonzo was a vocal politician but his influence waned when he moved out of the country. Kiema won the Kitui East parliamentary seat on the Wiper party in 2007. In 2013, he switched to Narc Kenya and vied for Kitui gubernatorial seat but lost to Malombe.
The shift to Ruto has also taken a new twist in the Kitui Gubernatorial race ahead of the general election. Ambassador Kiema kilonzo will take on the other candidates on a Ruto party ticket!
Kiema will bank on the Deputy President’s support to defeat the incumbent Kitui Governor madam charity Ngilu in the 2022 polls.
According to former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama Nduya, Kiema Kilonzo will be branded to take on Ngilu for the county top seat in kitui county.
Former Governor Dr. Julius Malombe is touted as a wiper’s gubernatorial candidate to take on Charity Ngilu.
