Former vice president Kalonzo Musyoka has come in to the defense of Nairobi’s Governor Mike Sonko following his arrest on Monday. The wiper leader has come out strongly in condemning the manner and reason leading to the Governor’s dramatic attack in Riverside drive.
A contingent of uniformed administration raided the “Whitehouse” residence owned by wealthy business man Paul Kobia where the Governor and the MCA’s had organised a presser. In what looked like a well organized raid, the officers pounced into the compound and launched teargas cannisters before escorting the Governor into a waiting vehicle.
“Why arrest him if he was only briefing the media with MCA’s standing with him in solidarity? This country is different that’s why we want to make it better with the BBI process. Let’s respect the constitution,” said a visibly agitated former Vice President.
The Governor had earlier changed his tone and declared his support for the BBI amendment bill.
“Let everyone enjoy their constitutional freedom.” Kalonzo added. Governor’s Sonko impeachment suffered a major blow after the court temporarily blocked the motion to debate his impeachment. The governor was backed by over 90 MCA’s who vowed their support.
