Kenya Rugby League Federation have awarded the new Logo winner Kshs 50,000. This was in partnership with its strategic commercial partner Homeboyz Entertainment Limited in the just concluded public Logo search contest.
DAC AFRICA COMPANY LTD, a Kenyan based design company emerged the contest’s eventual winners. The competition attracted a total of 456 design entries, both from foreign and local based designers who heeded to the call for logo proposals.
According to Homeboyz entertainment limited Chief Executive Officer, Myke Rabar ‘’The response was good and the winner merited the design brief expectations and was also in line with the Public choice that participated in an online voting process.We are satisfied and happy with the new logo that will be part and parcel of our journey to grow Kenya Rugby League to greater heights. We are glad to that the Federation have awarded the logo winner”.
“After going through the design brief, we wanted to come up with something simple and fresh, having noticed that most sports logos almost look alike. This was only possible by sticking to the confines of the client requirements. We sent our entry on the third day after the competition started, our experience must have come in handy having been in the business since 1998” says James Mwangi, Director DAC AFRICA COMPANY LTD.
The competition kicked off on 14th July running till the 30th July 2020, being the open window for participants to enter their creative works. The entries were rigorously reviewed, evaluated and scrutinized to carefully select and shortlist the top ten (10) logo entries.
The second and the last stage of the process involved the members of the Public, by subjecting the ten shortlisted logos to a one-week (12th – 17 August 2020) online voting process to choose the favorite and ultimate KRLF logo.
The contestants were expected to think outside the box, be creative enough to come up with a logo that is original, novel and capture the colors of the Kenyan National flag. Also, the logo was to represent strength, courage, sturdiness and speed as the key attributes and spirit of the game.
KRLF is in the process of structuring, streamlining, branding and currently players recruitment drive is ongoing, all in readiness for maiden Rugby League season kick off
