Eastleigh residents decry NMS for poor sanitation in the area.

With the wet seasons frequenting the city, Eastleigh residents have made an appeal to the President to intervene as the area is now flooding with raw sewage waste. The residents have complained that the poor sanitation within the area which now risks spreading waterborne diseases. “The streets are very dirty and when it rains, the filth washes down into lower sections and floods our houses. We are staring at an outbreak if nothing is done,” said a resident.

The residents have also raised concerns about the cleaning services provided by the ‘kazi kwa vijana’ initiative sighting that they end up dumping garbage in open spaces which in turn litters the estate with filth When they sweep our area, they end up dumping the garbage at Motherland area so it gets back to the our houses,” said a section 3 resident.

The residents have requested the president to hasten and enable proper management of NMS and the city county officials to enable them to receive their services. “Our efforts to address our concerns to NMS and the County government have been ignored because of the wrangles that haven’t been sorted,” they said as they begged the president to unite the two factions. The residents are worried about a cholera outbreak with a similar one having ravaged the estate in 2015.
